Yesterday, two teams of WHHC members - past and present - raised a glass (and a stick) to Chris Greenwood; who played his final game for West Hampstead after 10 seasons at the club.
We had players travel for near and far including, former coach, Ben Fletcher from Ireland and Nathan Harwood from Singapore.
During his time in the club Chris has been a captain to both our men's sevens and eights, a dedicated player, stand-in goalkeeper, committee umpire and a club officer on the committee for multiple years, and recently our coaching officer last season.
Chris has helped the club by building connections to local schools and colleges, helping with contracts with our suppliers; as well as recently taking a position with England Hockey.
Despite an expected rusty line up the standard was good, the first goal coming in the first quarter after being lost in the keeper's pads. After the third quarter Chris stood up to score a penalty with 5 minutes to go, equalising to two all; the final result.
Chris will be sadly missed by the club, we hope to see him in the clubhouse sometime soon!
