Mens 8s Announcement
It is with sadness that today we have withdrawn our Men's 8s from the league.
For most of this week the Men's captains have deliberated over how to provide the best hockey for the men's section based on the number of members and availability; with final options presented to most of the players directly affected before the decision was made.
Club promotion over the summer has led to us welcoming many new faces, of all ability, across both adult sections; however the total number of men, remains broadly the same, with a few players from each team retiring or moving on.
As a section last year we struggled some weeks to put out eight minimal squads, with a number of games having to be cancelled or postponed. Fielding seven teams each weekend will allow us to focus on sending full teams to games with 2-3 subs, as well as being able to cope on weekends when club availability is low.
Monday night coaching will remain the same with our three coaches Phil, Alex and Riaan, offering coaching for all abilities including new and back to hockey coaching.
With continued support from captains, coaches and the committee, it is our aim to return to eight teams entering a new team into division 9 in the future.
A big thank you goes out to Max, for his years of hard work as 8s captain. Many games have happened purely for the relentless time and effort that Max put in.
Players in the Men's 7s and 8s should have been contacted by either Chris or Max, but any questions, concerns or comments are welcomed from all members. Please feel free to get in touch with myself, Probee or one of the club officers.
