Showing the pitches some love

Jamie Fortune (2017-2022)

Fixtures Secretary

On Saturday 25 July 2020, with grey skies and a high probability of rain, 23 club members embarked on a clean-up mission of the hockey pitches.

A big thank you to Alice, Ascan, Benji, Ceci, Chris D, Elyese, Greeny, Hayley C, Hayley L, Henry J, Henry S, Hugo, Jamie F, Jared, Jenilee, Jo, Kate, Katy, K2, Lorna, Oli, Richard, and Thatch!

Our aim was to prune back, cut and remove most of the overgrowth around the pitches; build the two remaining hockey goals and tidy out the shed and stock it up with supplies, ready for the new season. Not only were we able to achieve all of this, but managed to complete a few more things.

Before and After

Pitch tidy before and after 3

Enough icepacks for the Ladies' 2s 🤣

In addition, we stocked up each team's locker with new balls for the season, replenished the first aid supplies, as well as new cones and bibs; bought at the end of last season.

Wrapping up the day

Post completion, the majority of us met up in my garden and braved the rain for some drinks and a Braai (BBQ), which lasted until late into the evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and put in a massive effort to improve the look and feel of the pitches. It is days like these that show our true WHHC spirit!
