Safeguarding & Welfare

WHHC takes its responsibilities regarding the health, safety and wellbeing of its Members seriously, below you will find links to policies which are in place to safeguard and protect our members.

Everyone should be able to play hockey happily at WHHC free from harassment. If you experience abuse of any kind - on or off the pitch, from spectators, opposition or even fellow teammates - Lorna, our Welfare Officer is here to ensure you feel supported and that as a club we take your welfare seriously.

It's vital to raise issues as soon as they arise, on or off the pitch, so that we can support you before anything escalates and to ensure protections are put in place for the future. Don't bottle things up, you are not alone.

  • Speak to your captain asap - if on the pitch, they have a relationship with the umpire and can raise there and then. We can then escalate to the league if necessary. For issues off the pitch they can also support you with a way forward, in liaison with Lorna.

  • If you are not confident to speak with your captain, you can raise welfare issues directly on welfare@whhc.uk

We adhere to the England Hockey Respect Code of Ethics & Behaviour which you can find below.
