WHHC vs Brixton Barbarians
Regents Park - Saturday 7th of July 2018 - 9:00am
This weekend saw a very mixed skilled WHHC team head out for their second game of cricket against Brixton Barbarians a year on from their debut.
The Barbarians, recovering from a stag do, elected to bowl as very few of their team had managed to make the early meet time. West Hampstead got of to a flying start as Michael Leberman opened the bowling with a golden duck and later captain Ali Denton almost getting a hat-trick. The innings ended at 174 for 9 after the full 30 overs.
West Hampstead started batting slowly but soon got the runs trickling in with 4 batsmen either retiring after 10 overs or scoring 30 runs. Jamie Fortune started hitting long boundaries to move the innings along (desperate to finish before the England vs Sweden kickoff). Jared Phayer got the first WHHC duck in two games in the short history against Brixton. After 29 overs the game was for the taking, WHHC needing 5 runs off the last 6 balls. After a single and a couple of dot balls the game concluded with a boundary on the penultimate ball.
Both teams watched the football post-match before returning to the HHC/WHHC clubhouse to watch some slightly better cricket as Hampstead CC 1XI scored 304 to beat Teddington.
We will be looking to play Brixton Barbarians in the future - if you are interested please get in touch with Ali Denton.
